"Root & Rise"
For High School Students & Young Adults Navigating Life's Challenges
Root & Rise is a therapeutic horticulture, vocational, and life skills program designed for high school students and young adults transitioning beyond high school who are navigating mental health, physical, developmental, learning, or social-emotional challenges.
Through meaningful, hands-on experiences with plants and nature, participants build confidence, develop practical skills, and discover their individual strengths in a supportive, person-centered environment.
Through gardening, vocational horticulture, and therapeutic horticulture activities, participants strengthen:
Workplace and job-readiness skills
Communication and teamwork
Responsibility and accountability
Problem-solving and decision-making
Self-advocacy
Independence and essential life skills
Confidence, resilience, and a sense of purpose
By blending the restorative benefits of therapeutic horticulture with practical vocational and life skills experiences, Root & Rise helps prepare participants for greater independence and future successβat school, in the workplace, at home, and within their communities.
To provide individualized support and meaningful engagement, enrollment is limited to 8β10 participants per session.
Program Schedule & Tuition
Root & Rise is offered in four 6-week sessions:
π± Fall Session: October 22 β December 3
βοΈ Winter Session: February 18 β March 25
π· Spring Session: April 15 β May 20
βοΈ Summer Session: May 27 β July 1
Tuition: $230 per 6-week session
One 90-minute session each week
Location: Twin Meadows Farm, Montgomery NY
Root & Rise was created with families in mind. Our goal is to provide high-quality, affordable programming through small-group instruction, experiential learning, and the restorative power of therapeutic horticulture.
In a welcoming and inclusive environment, participants are given opportunities to build confidence, practice real-world skills, develop greater independence, connect with others, and experience meaningful success.
